Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency

On November 16, 2018, President Trump signed into law the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act of 2018, which establishes the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

CISA is charged with protecting the Nation’s critical infrastructure from physical and cyber threats, and the Act establishes three divisions within the new agency: (1) Cybersecurity; (2) Infrastructure Security; and (3) Emergency Communications.

CISA will continue the mission of the former National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD) to improve critical infrastructure security, coordinate the protection of the Federal Government’s networks and physical infrastructure, and help entities in the public and private sectors manage risk.
