Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) Fact Sheet for Agricultural Production Facilities

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has published a CFATS Fact Sheet for Agricultural Production Facilities explaining the Agricultural Facilities Time Extension Notification Letter that DHS published on January 9, 2008.

As reiterated in the Fact Sheet, the 2008 Extension Letter provides that, unless otherwise notified by DHS, agricultural facilities do not have to report their CFATS Chemicals of Interest to DHS if they use them solely:

  • In preparation for the treatment of crops, feed, land, livestock, or other areas of an agricultural production facility; and/or
  • During application to, or treatment of, crops, feed, land, livestock, or other areas of an agricultural production facility.
